As hi5 progressed from a traditional social networking site to a social gaming platform, they implemented a coins and gifts feature. Coins could be purchased and used for playing games or buying gifts to send. To increase gift sending among members I was tasked with creating a store where members could browse gifts and easily purchase and send them to friends.
My role: design and hand-off to front-end.
I worked closely with the product manager and engineering lead to determine the functionality of the gift store. Based on the data we had about previous interactions on our platform, we decided that birthdays and top friends would be the main things to promote next to gifts. We then drew up wireframes covering all the interactions, error states, and edge cases. Lastly, I produced the visual design and worked with front-end to implement.
Gift store landing page.
Upon selection of a gift, the checkout bar would appear on top and prompt you to choose a recipient.
The user could then review the gift and recipient and make changes as needed.
The user could then preview the gift and message before sending.
